LEDA - Local Economic Development Act

The City of Santa Rosa adopted the Local Economic Development Act in order to expand and facilitate public/private partnership opportunities within the City and utilizing City-owned facilities, buildings, or property as appropriate.

For example:  The City-owned Los Amigos Facility is leased to Senior Community Services in agreement of the terms and conditions of the Local Economic Development Act.

The City of Santa Rosa recognizes that the needs of businesses, industry and development in the local area are:

• Infrastructure development;
• A long-range plan to attract outside business and industry and expand existing business and industry;
• Comparative analysis for all viable industries;
• SWOT Analysis updated every two years;
• Marketing and promotion of the local area;
• Housing including new housing development including single dwelling;
• Identify and prioritize local industry needs;
• Information regarding entrepreneurship and small business ownership;
• Increased accessibility to information and services relating to medical insurance, childcare, transportation and housing support and other barriers which may prevent business relocation;
• Job creation through economic development;
• Work ethics and employability skills such as reliability, attitude, attendance and personal responsibility; Life-long learning and training opportunities;
• Counseling and information for job seekers on available high-quality, long-term employment and training opportunities for targeted in-demand occupations.
