The City of Santa Rosa continues its tradition as a progressive, visionary community in business and community development. The City of Santa Rosa Vision encompasses four major areas: (1) making progress the number one focus, (2) establishing a highly competitive community dedicated to providing the best in all areas of business, economic development, education, communications, transportation, community and family (3) developing a desirable quality of life initiative benefiting locals and visitors (4) addressing the needs and future with regard to natural and man-made resources.
The vision can be realized by identifying and encouraging positive involvement in the system; focusing economic development efforts through a comprehensive strategic plan that provides services to fit the needs of all citizens; ensuring that business interests are assisted and encouraged by all resources available, empowering citizens, access all resources provided by the State of New Mexico; expanding our capacity to facilitate economic growth, and maintaining and improving comprehensive economic development initiatives and programs. The resources necessary to realize the City of Santa Rosa’s established economic development goals are achieved through on going local comprehensive efforts.
The City of Santa Rosa is committed to community development, economic development, wise use of natural resources, especially water resources, health issues, recreational development, quality of life initiatives, city parks, youth and adult programs, services, and a delivery system that provides opportunities for each and every citizen. The City of Santa Rosa supports local businesses to allow prosperity and viability. The City of Santa Rosa is committed to the safety and security of all of its citizens and visitors.
The City of Santa Rosa will continue to identify economic development needs and opportunities and the Administration will continue to seek guidance through citizens and elected officials to insure the development of programs and services to meet those needs.
VISION
The vision of the City of Santa Rosa is to develop and maintain an efficient community infrastructure as a basis for future development.
GOALS
DEVELOP AND ENHANCE RESOURCES
The City of Santa Rosa will develop and enhance existing resources with a comprehensive plan involving the municipality and community-based individuals, committees and businesses organizations in order to maximize all community resources. Cooperation will enable quality, efficient, and cost effective services, decreasing duplication of facilities.
The City of Santa Rosa commits to attracting more businesses, higher wages and employment opportunities through economic development and development of partnerships.
DEVELOP AND RETAIN EXISTING INDUSTRIES
The City of Santa Rosa will develop new and retain existing businesses and industry within the city and throughout the area in addition to city-owned resources and attractions. Final goals include increasing the number of participants served with the funding available.
DEVELOP NEW AND EXPANDED INDUSTRIES
By reviewing and appraising the existing industries, resources, facilities, and self-sufficiency level, as appropriate, the City of Santa Rosa will utilize all existing resources to expand the private and public sector.
PRODUCT AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
Our product as a recreational destination and a traveler service community contributes to the majority of the existing tax base. The existing product offered to the local citizen and residents of the community are available to the traveler and tourist and are probably classifiable into one of three classifications:”Traveler Services“, “Recreational Facilities”, and “Infrastructure Improvements ‘.
Workforce
The City of Santa Rosa supports the development of an effective and prepared workforce to meet business needs through a system of assessment, training and education. Supporting and encouraging a high quality, cost-effective workforce development program will foster local job growth and encourage economic development, as well as promote self-sufficiency and create jobs with livable wages for a healthy economy.
With the philosophy that it is business and public sector employers that create jobs, the City of Santa Rosa will promote, market and assist businesses and employers. The City of Santa Rosa seeks partnerships with the local school system, the Vocational Community Colleges serving the area, school counselors, economic development organizations, businesses and other community-based organizations. The City identifies business and private sector employers.
With the goal of overcoming barriers to employment at the lowest possible level, the City of Santa Rosa supports and endorses the comprehensive One-Stop delivery system which offers adults and dislocated workers lifelong, universal access to informational, self-directed, and staff-assisted Core, Intensive and Training services. These services are available through training and educational providers certified by the EAWDB and State Workforce Development Board.
